I’m ready to dive into console gaming after 20 years of playing on PC, and I’m considering getting a PS5. My main dilemma is whether to pick the PS5 Slim or the PS5 Pro. The Slim costs around €520, while the Pro is priced at about €820. I’m really interested in playing GTA VI, and I’m worried that the Slim might struggle to handle the demands once the game launches. However, I’ve read that for someone who’s not really into console differences, like me, the Pro’s benefits might be hard to notice. I just bought a Phillips 65OLED718/12 TV, which should provide great visuals, but I’m not sure if it makes a difference in my console choice. I’d love to hear from those with more console experience—do you think the Pro is worth the extra money for someone like me?

Honestly, if you’re mainly getting this for GTA VI, just wait until it drops. You don’t want to invest in a console just for that one game, especially with possibilities of a PS6 coming out. If there are more games you’re eager to play, then the Pro might be worth it, especially for games like Resident Evil that play better on it.

If you can swing the price of the Pro, I’d say go for it. It’s more future-proof, and you’ll have the best experience with whatever games come out. Just keep in mind, buying a console just for one game might not be the best move. Consider what else you’d want to play on it!

Yeah, but future-proofing is a bit exaggerated; they won’t stop making games for the Slim. When they move on to PS6, both will be outdated.

If GTA VI is your main reason for buying, I’d recommend waiting it out. By then, you’ll see how both consoles perform, and prices may drop. Reports will come out comparing them. But if you find yourself wanting a lot more out of your games beyond just GTA, the PS5 is solid enough for the time being.

If you’ve got the cash and you’re set on upgrading your gaming experience, then grab the Pro! I have the Slim, and while it’s great, I can’t help but wonder about the Pro’s capabilities, especially on a good TV like yours. However, if money’s tight, you might not need the extra bells and whistles right now.

This really comes down to personal preference. The base PS5 will handle everything, and you’ll usually have options for quality or performance modes. But if you want a slight edge, the Pro has you covered for better graphics and smoother gameplay. If you’ve got the cash and want those visuals, go for the Pro! If that doesn’t matter much to you, the Slim will definitely meet your needs.
